My Fiance & I went to Santorini in October 2006 to plan our wedding for September 2007. The weather was around 25'c. Santorini is lovely, but it was quiet at the beginning of October as everywhere was closing for the winter. Some of the costs are as follows: Fira to Oia on the bus Euros 1.10 (very easy travelling on the buses and very cheap would reccommend), cable car at Fira to the port Euros 3.50 or you can have a ride on a donkey not sure how much this costs!, Average meal in Kamari 6-13 Euros the meals can be expensive in Fira and Oia, Beer Euros 3, 1/2 litre house wine minimum Euros 4, cocktails Euros 4.5. We used Olymic for our tour operators they were absolutely fantastic very helpful, I am even using them for my wedding planners. Oias worth a visit its a village at the top of the island the views are amazing. Firas the main town its extremelly busy loads of restaurants, bars and shops (especially jewellery). Kamari is a long prom full of restaurants with a shingley beach, can be very sore on your feet. You can catch a boat from the beach to Perissa for about Euros 4/5. This place was the british resort, nice beach and a very long prom, we went for the day but only lasted 1 hour - was not impressed.
TOP TIP - if you plan any trips do not use the tour operator when you go to the port of Fira you can book trips here for literally half the price. For example we booked the sunset cruise through the tour operator and paid Euros 45 each. Down in the port it was Euros 25 each!!! I am sure you can book the trips in other places too. And if you want a day trip to the volcano make sure you take your trainers. If you are looking for a very very basic hotel in kamari - Zeus hotel. Another hotel, which is a 2star hotel but well worth it and the food is fantastic and cheap is the Lavante hotel. Situated on the prom. If you are looking for a 5star hotel and this hotel is amazing the Tamerix Del Mar, out of this world about a 5 minute walk to the prom. Also, the Kastelli Resort is a beautiful hotel. All these hotels are in Kamari.
A must is to watch the sunset go town at Santorini wines, you can get 12 sample wines and cheese for Euros 12 extremelly cheap. You can get married at Santorini wines, its nice here.
With regards to nightlife I can only comment on kamari theres 2 nighclubs and 1 bar.
If you are looking for a very relaxing holiday - Santorini is the place to go. The people are extremelly nice and helpful they will go out of there way to help you. You can also go scuba diving,which I believe is amazing. Have a great holiday.
