I went on Santorini Island by air. The trip was fine except from the food.
I went to Santorini last year for the reason that I went there the last time 15 years ago and really liked it. I was curious to see the changes but I knew that the island still has a great reputation.
The first time I came to Santorini I didn't knew anything about the island. I had a Greek friend with whom I was studying and he was from Paros Island. A summer I went to Paros to see him and we made the trip to Santorini. He told about the histiry of the island and its volcano and the landscape it left behind and was really excited to see it.
Today the island look much as I left it 15 years ago. The landscapes are always as amazing and was happy to visit it again with my daughter. What have really changed are the lifestyles of the local people. Today it seems that everybody works for tourism. 15 years ago you could see a local economy there.
My favorite thing about Santorini: the landscapes, the architecture and the weather. There is a great harmony between those 3 and you never get bored just watching the surroundings.
Even though the island is much modernised it is a great destination for holidays. My daughter was really excited to see black volcanic beaches. Personally this is not my cup of tea. I prefered the beaches of Paros Island.
If I can give an advice: just go to Santorini and relax. At the begining things are not always as you want to be but relax, this is the Greek way and it maybe better than our way.

I was really happy about the trip. I think I will go back again in few years, when my daughter will be older and have an island hopping.
